GIRL TALK

So, I just love getting together with my sister! It is so AWESOME that we are not just sisters but such good friends! It was fun getting the kids together and all going to Poway Park and Kids Clubhouse today. As we hung out today, we had a blast chatting as always, but as we were talking, I was thinking about how funny our conversations have become. Mostly after our initial greetings and hugs, when we sit down to talk, the conversation goes a little something like this:

Me: "Oh yeah, so Wendy. Did you hear about that new place that just opened up? It looks like a lot of fun. There is this place by my house that.... What? Gwen, you just went to the bathroom! Again, already? Ok. I'll be right back K?" ..... (I return from the bathroom after remembering of course to take as many kids as possible to make sure they all get their bathroom breaks out of the way)
Me: "So where was I? Oh yeah, this place by my house is a new play place for the....... Yes Kori, fine! You can go down and catch tadpoles at the swamp. What? Yes... it smells like a sewer, but go ahead grab those tadpoles!"
Me: "So yeah Wendy, this place is awesome. It has a.... GWEN!! What is on your hands?! Nasty! Don't touch anything. Let's go to the bathroom and wash!! ... Be right back Wendy." (10 minutes later I return)
Wendy: "Oh I think I heard about that place! It sounds like fun. I heard they have a..... "JAEDON! Be careful not to fall IN the swamp!! Peee Eww... It stinks! Maybe we should go to the playground area"
Me: (after walking all the way to the playground area) "Holy Moly! It is hot out here. Lets go to the indoor playground where it is air conditioned, since it is just down the street."
(later at Kids Clubhouse)
Wendy: "So, I think we should go to that place next weekend that you were talking about. Maybe we could..... UH OH! Who's crying? Are you okay Cammy? What ?? What kid pushed you down?" Alright, he is saying sorry, you wanna go play again? Alright."
Me: "Yeah, Wendy that sounds good. You were saying we should meet up at..... "HOLY MOLY Gwen! You have to go to the bathroom again? Maybe Kori can go with you this time.
Wendy: "Oh yeah! Sandy, did I tell you about what happened yesterday? So we were going to...... OH! Yes, I have snacks. You guys are hungry again? Man, we just ate at the park! Ok, let me grab some snacks."
Me: "Ok, so go ahead, you were telling me your story about the other day. Wait! Hold that thought, Wendy! .....Why is that little boy spitting water out at all the kids? Gross!"

Bwaaaahahhahaha!! I love our outings and girl talk! Even if our conversations get jumbled and chaotic and we can never really remember what we talked about, or didn't get to finish talking about! I enjoy every minute of them! :) LOVE YOU SISTER!!!

Surviving the torture chamber....

Ok, I don't care how great of a dentist you are.... there is nothing fun about sitting in a dentist office for two hours with a clamp holding your mouth open while they are poking, injecting, drilling, pushing, and digging out nerve endings in your tooth. TWO HOURS. And I still have to go back two more times before I have this thing fixed. UGgg.
Ok, so I understand you are helping me... yeah yeah. I get it. You are fixing my tooth and in the long run it will look nicer and prettier, be functional again, and no more pain eventually. But please, for the love of God, do not ask me a hundred questions when I have a clamp in my mouth, a funky blue plastic sheet covering my mouth and nose, and drool dripping down my chin. I mean everyone knows how much I love to talk. No surprise there. The fact that I can not say anything for two whole hours is already hard enough for someone like me, so it only makes it worse when you are playing a game of 20 questions while drilling my tooth out, and I am reduced to only being able to answer with a simple Uhh HUH, or Uhhh UHH. Do you know how hard that is for a chatterbox like me?
Well...I guess the worst part is over, and truth be told I do really like my dentist. I mean, I drive an hour away from where I live to go to this particular dentist, to be less tortured than anywhere else. (Nothing worse than going to a certain Lakeside dentist that will remain nameless.) That is a whole 'nother story that I prefer to try to erase from my memory. However, no matter how awesome the dentist or how good they are at their job, it is seriously one of the worst places to have to go. I think I would rather be giving birth than to have a root canal... And to think that I actually pay them loads of money to have them do this to me!!
Yeah, I am definitely glad that I am back at home for the time being and not in that torture chamber anymore. But if anyone really wants to see me at my worst, just come and pay a visit to me after a dentist office visit. Not a pretty sight. (Sorry sweetheart. The vicodin has finally kicked in now, so you can come back out of hiding)...... Oh, and I also apologize in advance for July 19th after 4:00 pm. Yep, mark your calendar, because you know those dentist visits are even worse than "shark week". ;)
Well..... I guess the only thing left to for me to do after a night like tonight is to open a favorite book before bedtime to keep the nightmares of the dentist chair away. hmmm..... I think for me tonight it will be The Host. Good night all! :)

Why I LOVE our neighborhood.....

I love our little "country" feel neighborhood. I really do. I especially love it this time of year, with the other side of the street decking the outside of their houses with all of the Christmas lights! Our "tinsel town" neighborhood has become a drive by neighborhood for people to come with their families, just checking out all the lights. I love that! ..... Even though our side of the street isn't as elaborate with the Christmas lights, we still have that neighborly feel.

I love how in our neighborhood everyone waves and says hi when driving by, and people come outside to talk to each other on the weekends or weeknights. How our neighbors get together and have bonfires in their driveways or BBQs in the front yard. And of course, how can I forget the amazing 4th of July fireworks spectacular our neighborhood put on, that had the cops driving by telling us, "all done now!" LOL! It really, truly is the best neighborhood ever.

I love that next week one of my awesome neighbors Nada, (who is my Mom's age) asked me to come over so we could wrap gifts together and watch Christmas movies and she would help me keep the gifts hidden from my kids until Christmas.

I love that our entire neighborhood has been invited to a Christmas BBQ block party in the cul-de-sac, while waving to cars driving by looking at lights. I love that you can buy homemade peanut brittle and kettle corn from the people sitting outside wishing you a Merry Christmas.

I love The Johnson Family, a few houses down, who help remind us what the holiday is all about. They are an amazing example of a Christian family who strives to follow the word of God and they live their lives with so much love, integrity, and compassion for others. They have truly blessed our neighborhood and brought a lot of us closer by their examples. I can feel how much closer our neighborhood has become just by their presence.

I love that Michael's best friend lives just a few houses down and that his daughter and mine have known each other since birth and are still great friends.

I really am feeling the Christmas spirit this year and God's grace. Happy, happy birthday Jesus and thank you for so many blessings you have given me including this awesome neighborhood.

That's Gwen for you....

Okay, so I am trying to sell some stuff on Craigs list, but the last time I took some pictures it said the card was out of memory which I thought was kinda odd. I thought I had plenty more pictures left on the card. Oh well...

So, low and behold I went to save my pictures tonight and when I popped open the file for the camera card I found a fun little treasure. :)

Apparantly Gwen had got a hold of the camera and had quite a good time with it. LOL. I couldn't help but smile as I scrolled down to find about 50 images with many close ups she had taken of her nostrils, ears, lips and a few random pictures of feet, toys, a clock, bathtub and yet again more pictures of close up kissy faces, sad faces and all kinds of other strange expressions. I think these are some of the best pictures I have seen in awhile!! ha! It is so fun when their little personalities really come out. I still love to see some of the pictures Kori takes with her DSI too. It just shows off their personality. At Kori's age right now she is always flashing peace signs or making goofy faces with her friends and making homemade videos or audio of them singing. So much fun! I love it when I am reminded by them what it's like to be a kid again cause I sure do miss it!
Well anyway, I thought I would share just a few of the little treasures I found on the camera card tonight! Enjoy!! :)
